For this shot, I was lying in the road as these amazing creatures were walking towards me. Walking out of the mist of on the road toward me was amazing to witness. Shot at 300mm, ISO 1000, 1/400th at f/6.0

For me the most impressive aspect of this image is your composition with the three buffalo coming straight toward you and in a staggered formation. The snowy background I think helps to project the idea of a cold winter day. I totally agree with Tom regarding the angle from which you took the shot.
I think a bit of cropping from the right (to have the distance from the buffalo to the edge of the frame the same on both sides) might help to increase the prominence of the three buffalo.

Thanks Ed. the first time I edited this, I did crop more in from the right to make it centered, however I wanted to see what I looked like without.
Between the cold, my rapid breathing, hands shaking a bit with the big lens, and the fact that these majestic animals can decide to move quickly, I was indeed shooting fast to get the shot and get out of their way as to not disturb them. Posted: 10/17/2026 15:56:31

I love your low angle and I love the inclusion of the trees in the background. I think you crop is perfect. Lovely image. Very jealous
