It's always nice to see breeding plumage, but the heron looks soft, and the background oversaturated and dark. I'd also give it more room if you have it on top. Did you have to crop in a lot?   Posted: 10/10/2026 11:47:49
I will need to go back and see to answer thar question!   Posted: 10/10/2026 21:00:06
Nice light on the great blue heron. I agree a bit soft focus and needs more space above.   Posted: 10/12/2026 05:32:13

Ginny,
I was wandering through this month's study groups and saw this photograph of a Great Blue Heron. It's spectacular! Such wonderful plumage, and you did a fantastic job separating the bird from the background. Well done!
As I often do with beautiful images, I played with your photograph in Photoshop. I recropped it, sharpened the heron, and slightly expanded the canvas. What do you think?

Great heron shot. I do like the changes made by Oliver as it looks more balanced.   Posted: 10/15/2026 16:45:39

The heron is beautiful! The detail you got in the feathers is great, the sharpening really helped. I would blur the background a little bit more.
Great job!   Posted: 10/15/2026 20:50:40
