About the Image(s)

This "Pink lotus flower (Nelumbo nucifera) 119," also known as the "Padma" in Bangladesh" was shot at the "ASTRAS" farmhouse in Bangladesh on 27th February 2025 in Bangladesh; I visited my regular destination at Pabna and took this opportunity to shoot the flowers in the amazing gardens. The entire garden was filled with colorful flowers, including Lotus, dahlias, and petunias.

I used my Samsung S 23 camera for the images (It was early morning, and I shot handheld). With no flash, I captured the image. I used the Windows Photo Editor for editing and post-processing (to crop, discard & slight light corrections) on the original image before submission.

I hope you enjoy the image and kindly give me your feedback on it.

A beautiful image of the lotus, Kamal. On a quick review, I see some cropping but I feel that you should have cropped more removing the brown leaf on the left and the "R" stem forward of that leaf. I also might consider cropping tight to include the flower and the tall bud. Its one of the most difficult job's to remove the unnecessary parts of a busy composition.   Posted: 10/10/2026 15:27:05

Hi Kamal. This IS a lovely lotus and you have captured it well. Your focus and exposure are excellent and the color of the flower contrasts nicely with the color of the background leaves and water. My only suggestion would be to crop closer to the flower on the left and to remove the stem which is going off of the end of the frame at the top. The ASTRAS farmhouse garden certainly provides you with many great photography opportunities!   Posted: 10/14/2026 22:05:50

Quite pretty. The flower is wonderfully shown against the background. I agree about removing distractions -- I would include the long brown leaf at the top, and the tubing in the lower left. Such things are perhaps better done with the on line newer version of Photoshop.   Posted: 10/15/2026 19:48:13

It's such a pretty Lotus - I would like to focus more on the flower and less on the background. While I have an S23, I bring all my images into Lightroom and then work between LR, PS and sometimes On1. I'll have to try the mobile photo apps sometime.
I agree with Doug that there is a lot you can do with the new versions of LR and PS. Time to upgrade? :)   Posted: 10/21/2026 02:14:34

Hi Marti,
Thank you for your editing of my image. I can tell you, this appears even better. I like the concept of focusing on the subject only. I will remember, about your suggestion of upgrading the tools.
Thanks again and cheers.

Hi Kamal, agree with the others, this is a very lovely lotus flower. It's good that you have showcased the water flower in its environment. It seems to me that there is a yellow cast over the image and so took the liberty of doing a colour balance in Camera Raw and then in photoshop cropped it to a square and slightly darken the background a little.   Posted: 10/22/2026 10:30:13
