About the Image(s)
Lupines at their Peak was taken back in the Spring here in NH. I loved the way they were spaced and the darkness of the background trees increased their separation and of course the saturated colors. Taken at 240mm on my 28-300 lens, ISO 1600 F9.0 and 1/40 sec. As my data shows I needed to compensate for a slight breeze.

Hi Bob. This is a great portrait of these lupin. The blooms and their leaves are in sharp focus and the background is nicely blurred while still providing context. Although rules are made to be broken, your decision to include 3 blooms is effective and pleasing. For some reason, I feel like there should be a small leprechaun sitting at the base of the flowers.   Posted: 10/14/2026 21:33:40
Bob, lobe the trio of lupin. The colors against the background is striking. Your image makes me think it's a place I'd like to be. My only thought is that I wish there was a bit more breathing room to the left and right of the blooms. Nice job.   Posted: 10/20/2026 19:47:39
Lovely portrait of the lupines. Nice lighting on them too. I'm thinking perhaps a little darkening of the background? To me, there are a few "hot spots" in the green leaves.   Posted: 10/21/2026 01:48:27
Nice composition as the position of the three lupines is very pleasing complemented by the nice placing of the leaves to soften the strong purple colour. I do agree with Rich that a little more room either side would balance it all. Lovely capture.   Posted: 10/21/2026 10:02:23
Hi Bob,
What an amazing portrait of the Lupin. I loved the edition that you have shared. The color and the lights are complementing each other. The blurry background behind the flowers added to the scene. Thank you for sharing. Nothing to add.
Cheers.

The lupin are very nice -- I like their being set against the dark background. A weakness in the composition is that 2 lupins are the same height in the photo. It would be much better if there were 3 different heights.   Posted: 10/27/2026 01:52:28
Thanks Doug. That's Nature
