About the Image(s)
This is an image of some of the beautiful sedimentary strata that appear in the cliffs and outcroppings in the area around Abiquiu, New Mexico. I was able to get a shot of a stone outcropping that slopes up one direction in front of a lovely limestone outcropping that slopes up the other direction, which made a nice contrast. I'm including my original shot which appeared a little dark along with my revised image which I've cropped and brightened just a bit to make it look more natural the way I remember it. The landscape in northern New Mexico is really dramatic and keeps drawing me back again and again. I took this handheld with my Fuji XT-2, 10-24mm lens at 14mm, f/11, 1/200th sec, at 1SO 100. I would appreciate any feedback and suggestions. I've called this picture "Layers of Abiquiu" for obvious reasons.

it is a highly expressive shot. the dark foreground rock creates strong warm/cold contrast, adding impact to the photograph   Posted: 10/13/2026 07:13:41
Nicely done. You were able to bring a lot of foreground details by decreasing the "shadows". The main subject and sky might be a little over-saturated.
Well done.   Posted: 10/16/2026 17:47:09
It's always a challenge to recreate what your eye saw earlier in post. The colors of NM are rich and intense, and this reflects some of my feelings as well as the accuracy of the scene. Especially in the evening light, the colors are even stronger, which is when I took the shot. So, as you know, there's a lot of subjectivity in the final product.   Posted: 10/16/2026 22:11:51
