About the Image(s)

Here is another photo I took at Shiprock in July at 8:50 pm under storm clouds. Took it with my Sony RX 10 iv, focal length 100, F4, Exp 1/60. In processing it, it was very dark so difficult. I adjusted the colors and light in the sky and rocks. Added saturation, and more exposure. Denoised it, but no sharpening.
I would put this in as a landscape entry or large color. All comments are appreciated to make it a winning entry!

Rita,
Normally clouds in the sky add interest. In this photo the very dark cloud at the top of the image competes (to my eye) with the main subject (Shiprock). Maybe makeing this more of a pano would work? See attached.   Posted: 10/08/2026 03:43:59

Rita, I like this photo and the way the colors harmonize. Yes, the dark cloud could be taken out--carefully.   Posted: 10/11/2026 22:22:19

Rita, I had the same feeling as Dean. The dark sky was competing with the main subject. I also wonder if it is over saturated. Is this what it looks like in person?   Posted: 10/12/2026 08:58:46

Thanks for the comment. It was almost 9 pm at night, with cloud color, so very dark. I did brighten the colors to help the photo.   Posted: 10/12/2026 16:12:48

I also agree with Dean, making into a pano would be the best, and maybe crop a bit more from the bottom. Beautiful area you were in. I'm sure there was a lot to photograph there.   Posted: 10/13/2026 02:39:07
