About the Image(s)

My image this month is a fun one. It doesn't have enough contrast, and I don't know anything else to do. (I did a got bit of dodge and burn).
This is full sun in Arizona. This is my friends garden. A cactus is growing inside the frog, and it looks like he has a full head of hair.
Pentax K 3 III Mono camera with 50 MM lens. ISO 200. 1/5000th second. F 3.5. EV -1.7.

This is a fun image, Mark. Looking at the shadows, I'm guessing mid day? The light can be brutal that time of day. The subject matter is really funny. I like the cactus on the left and bottom of the image, framing our friend. Good eye to spot the scene!   Posted: 10/15/2026 15:31:38

Yes, mid day in summertime Arizona. I have been challenging myself with the new monochrome camera. It didn't work here. Color at least adds some contrast.   Posted: 10/15/2026 23:23:26

Cool hairdo on Mr. Frog. I like the subject here Mark. You are correct though, mid-day sun is brutal. You might try a liner gradient to darken the top just a bit and see if that helps some. It might help separate the "hair" from the background--maybe not. I like the way the frog is looking over the cactus in the front, almost like it is peeking out from the ground. I think a tighter crop eliminating the cactus on the right might give us more "frog impact". Might be a tough crop, you may need to do a bit of removal too if you want to go in that direction.
Thanks for sharing this one.   Posted: 10/26/2026 22:01:52
