This photo is taken in my summer cottage in Northern Savonia, Eastern Finland. Again. I've been living there from 1st June to 1st October. My only landscape is the lake Onkivesi and the Väisälänmäki hill on the other side of the lake, about 6 km away. One of my previous photos was a view from the observation tower on the hill. The Väisälänmäki has got it's name from the Väisänen family that inhabited the area in the 17th century. I have ancestors in this family. The hill is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Several notable Finnish 19th century artists have made great paintings there, too.
Sony Nex-5 (full spectrum) + Minolta MC Macro Rokkor-QF 3.5/50mm + IR 720nm filter.

Very peaceful, Tatu. It would lead the viewer into the center of the image if you would lighten the shadows on the hill and surrounding waters and sky. You captured lovely clouds but they are too dark.The grasses are so unique and I would love for their surroundings to be lighter as well. You balanced them so nicely-just lighten those areas. I agree with Debbie. How lovely that you can capture this place and mood that is part of your ancestry. A nice touch are the rings of rippled water to give a sense of balance and place in the well caught reflection in the water. Posted: 10/20/2026 00:31:48
