About the Image(s)

This was shot several years ago with my Lumix camera. The original is actually cropped from the real original as I lost the real original somehow while saving. This was shot at the Chicago Botanic Garden. ISO 100, 1/250 sec, f4.0
I decided, before Joe comments :) to flip the image horizontally.

Great composition. I assume you wanted the bluish-green tint to convey a sense of cold. This works nicely here. The only suggestion I'd make is to warm it up a bit to avoid it being overly tinted. But that's just a personal taste. Otherwise, can't think of a thing to improve this.   Posted: 10/05/2026 15:07:18

I hope I put in the correct final. I tried to make it less green.   Posted: 10/05/2026 17:58:13

Great composition and the flip improved the image. You caught the right sky and the contrast is right on. Good shot!   Posted: 10/05/2026 22:10:36

Brrrr ... Maybe a bit more gray and a little less blue? Possibly the tree on the left puts the overall composition a bit too heavy on that side. Good capture, though.   Posted: 10/09/2026 16:46:26

I agree about the blue. I thought it looked more gray that it shows.   Posted: 10/09/2026 17:49:17

The flip was definitely an improvement. At first glance it looked to me like trees running along a riverbank. But I do see that it is a road with plowed up snow. A pretty winter scene. I think the color tint is very much personal choice, and I like it blue/gray as is.   Posted: 10/13/2026 17:03:18

Marti, you flipped a picture!?? I can hardly believe it!... I love these beautiful snow-covered trees. The flip does work, but you will want to kill me for this. In this case, for me, the original composition works as well, because, my eye roams all around the trees and then it stops at the dark tree and comes right back, instead of going out of the picture. Not sure why you left the two lines in the foreground. I suspect they are electric wire shadows. The bluish tone is tipical of snowy scenes. I am not bothered by it.   Posted: 10/15/2026 21:25:44

This is a great example of when a flip worked. I see that it made Joseph happy!! I enjoy the leading lines around the pond. The pine tree provides an anchor and then leads to the nice angles with the top of the trees. The color choice works, but I'd like to see a bit more white in the snow.   Posted: 10/25/2026 15:47:54

I agree - I would like more white. Thanks.   Posted: 10/25/2026 18:22:20
