About the Image(s)

Our photo club went on a downtown "walk about" Saturday. Given my previous issues with aperture, I looked for shots to check my camera's performance. I discovered that when I tried to adjust exposure by depressing +/- button and rotating back dial sometimes it didn't always work. The reason is that I released the button before turning the dial, which defaulted to changing the aperture. I think.
This photo was shot f10, ISO 500, 1/300 sec. at 125 mm.
In post processing, I cropped it to 4:5, erased a bright spot and a distracting label on the right beam, adjusted the curve to reduce highlights, masked and color corrected bright white hat to reduce its brightness, and masked the right face to add fill light.
I need ideas for alternative titles and any suggestions to improve this shot.

The strong lines of the metal beams do a great job of drawing the eye toward the workers. The shadows add an interesting touch, and the worker's face is nicely brightened. The diagonal lines also bring a sense of movement to the image.   Posted: 10/16/2026 20:25:25

Becca,
An interesting street image. Catching the men @ work was tough but you did it & cropped well. My only suggestion would be to see if any of your other images showed their faces more clearly as this might further enhance the impact-I would prefer to see both eyes of the man to the right. For the title something simple such as'working up high' might be good.

Great feedback, keep em coming.
I'll upload the others that I have but unedited. Let me know which you think has more impact.   Posted: 10/17/2026 12:10:40

and BTW, I purchased a new camera, OM-1 Mark II. Hopefully, I'll be able to navigate the camera menu and focus a tad bit better than with the DC-GH7.
Finding the PSA post editing guidelines a tad bit restrictive for nature and travel with not being able to vignette and remove elements. It is interesting to discover how much editing has AI.   Posted: 10/17/2026 12:18:57

Having looked at your picture for the month and then seen the other shots, I think you chose the best one. The faces might not be looking at you but they are concentrating on something on the man with the helmets phone, ready to make a decision on what to do next. It tells a story and the steelwork tells us where they are.   Posted: 10/18/2026 10:14:02

Oh, John, I was trying to work with my old camera to get the right f stop. This seems a little better than previous snaps. Just wish I had taken a burst. So many things to remember.   Posted: 10/18/2026 10:46:49

I like the image you picked and frankly considering whatever they are doing makes the image more interesting. It even suggested a title for it. Something like, "I think the other selfy you took of us was better." Sorry, that got a little long but I was juckling guessing what they were doing.   Posted: 10/20/2026 22:58:32

OMGosh! That's hilarious!
I got on a roll myself...
"She texted what?"
"Grocery pick up list?"
"Sam passed the bar!"
"She got tickets to Bruno Mars?"
"Now where does IU rank?"   Posted: 10/21/2026 10:14:57
