Love the left to right diagonal line of the feather.
I'd like to see this as a 1x1 square. The bottom of the photo seems distracting to me.
Great title as it directs me to know the "spots" are on the water not your lens! It also lets me know the background green is of the pond.   Posted: 10/15/2026 14:35:18

The plain background really helps the feather stand out, and I like how the soft light reveals its delicate, tiny hairs. The slanted position adds a sense of movement. A slightly tighter crop might make the feather's shape stand out even more.   Posted: 10/16/2026 20:28:08

Hi John,
A wonderful macro image . The color is right on & the detail is sharp. The plain background makes the subject stand out.
Well
Done!

I personally would prefer that the background not have all the spots in it, but if an attempt is made to remove them, it is important to not remove any of the soft details in and on the feathers. I don't know if a backgrround selection or an inverse of a subject selection would work, but I think I would attempt to take those out. I really like the suggesion of going to a square image if there are enouch pixels everywhere to do it.   Posted: 10/20/2026 22:13:05
