About the Image(s)
In May, my photo club had an outing to the Loveland Living Aquarium, just south of Salt Lake City. The image was captured with a Sony A6400 with a 18-105mm F4 lens. Attached to the lens was an oversize lens hood to block some of the reflection. The camera settings were shutter speed of 1/125, ISO 1600, at F4. Although the Aquarium allowed tripod, all of my images were handheld, due to the number of school children there that day. My plan was to find the brightest section in the tank and let the fish come to me.

Hi Greg, well caught image and a great strategy to capture the shot and particularly not to have your tripod set up with schoolkids around you. The viewer is drawn immediately to the fish with the sharpness of the fish itself and eyes drawing the attention, all supported by the blurred background of coral working well. Hi Greg. This is a wonderful portrait of this guy, who looks like he is having a very serious discussion with himself. I think your crop is perfect, leaving just enough coral to give an impression of his environment. Overall, this is a very successful image, especially given the difficulty of the venue.   Posted: 10/14/2026 17:17:52

Hi Greg - This is a lovely shot. I like how the fish stands out in color, detail and with the appropriate lighting. The background is compressed and readily identifiable providing context. Your strategy worked well - well thought-through. I will keep in mind your approach for my next outing to our local aquarium or other similar venue. Thanks for sharing!   Posted: 10/19/2026 00:16:53

Hi Greg,
Greetinsg my friend.
Aquarium is my thing. I have 04 at my house and 03 in my office. I also have the fresh water fish and the marine fishes available. My youngest son is obsessed with this aquaculture hobby. I understand the effort needs to be given for this hobby. I love the image that you have captured. From the original, the way you have made a tighter crop to bring the subject closer. The details on her frowned (I should say that) face on the frame. Loved it. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers.
