About the Image(s)

I took this image at one of the conceptual photography studios in Jakarta, Indonesia. We have several studios here that provide creative sets, professional lighting, and talented models specifically for photography enthusiasts. They offer a wide range of concepts like this, giving hobbyist photographers opportunities to explore more creative styles of photography. These studios have also become quite popular with visiting photographers, including some from Singapore.

Hi Frans -
This is just a fun, well-executed, and precisely post-processed image in a Frans style. (which is a compliment, by the way). This is such a captivating image, staged or not, the capture of the placement of her hair, the red tassels, and every drop of water, just seemed perfectly placed for a well-balanced composition. The swirl created by the water just makes it a fun and interesting photograph. Did you add blue in the water droplets or was it from the lighting? Subtle and effective touch to the image. Thanks for sharing :)   Posted: 10/04/2026 03:22:55

hank you so much, Susan! I'm especially flattered that you recognize a "Frans style" in my photography! ???? Capturing the right moment with all those moving elements was part of the fun, and I'm delighted you appreciate the composition and subtle details. The bluish tones in the water were [from the lighting / enhanced during post-processing]. Your thoughtful comments really made my day!   Posted: 10/25/2026 06:40:11

I've seen many hair-and-water toss images over the years, but this one is by far the most outstanding. The model's outfit, especially the red drape, the angle of the shot, the low-key background, and the beautiful water design all come together spectacularly. Absolutely stunningly captured!

Thank you so much, Tom! Coming from someone who has seen so many of these images, your compliment means a lot to me! I'm delighted that you appreciate how all the elements came together. Your generous words are truly encouraging!   Posted: 10/25/2026 06:41:18

Beautiful. I love how your shutter speed was able to capture the water swirling around her - and stopped it in mid-air.
This sounds picky, probably, but I would have liked a softer expression on her face -- or maybe just softened highlights and a little bit of blur. Other than that, this is beautiful. Exposure, color, Wow.   Posted: 10/06/2026 01:05:27

Thank you so much, Donna! I really appreciate your thoughtful comments and constructive suggestion. You have a good point about softening her facial expression and highlights. Sometimes we get so caught up in capturing the action that we overlook the finer details! That's exactly why I enjoy our group discussions. Always something to learn!   Posted: 10/25/2026 06:42:20

Really, Really nice Frans. Those studios in Indonesia do a great job. It's my abilities but I appreciate that you are able to present to us your work. The timing of lighting for the slow shutter of the hair and body water, and the crisp facial expression are magnificent. No suggestions as how to improve.   Posted: 10/08/2026 20:17:01

Thank you so much, Bob! You're absolutely right, these creative studios in Indonesia provide wonderful opportunities for photographers. The real fun and challenge lie in capturing that perfect moment and bringing out its best through post-processing. I'm delighted you enjoyed the result, and I truly appreciate your generous words!   Posted: 10/25/2026 06:43:24

Frans this a very impactful photo. The radial movement of the hair and water works beautifully! Her outfit with the tassels is a perfect fit, complementing the action and movement in the photo.

I would perhaps remove the bright blues as it is not a perfect hue with the water, reds, beige and light browns.   Posted: 10/14/2026 11:57:55

Thank you so much, Mariana! I'm delighted you appreciate the movement and composition. You make an interesting point about the blue tones. I actually liked the cool contrast against the warmer colors, but I can see how reducing the blues might create better color harmony. That's the beauty of our discussions-seeing our work through different eyes! Really appreciate your thoughtful feedback!   Posted: 10/25/2026 06:44:38

Fair enough Frans, if the blue is part of your story, you can try and darken the bright blue to the same band on the color wheel but different hue as the red ( which is the beautiful dark red that work perfectly with your browns nd beiges). That I believe will also work   Posted: 10/26/2026 08:36:27

Frans, This is a well-timed and well-posed photo, full of vibrance and energy, and frozen at one discrete point in time. I feel the blue of the waterdrops (cool) contrasts well with the red tassels (hot). Overall, nicely done!   Posted: 10/25/2026 00:32:07

Thank you so much, Mark! I'm glad you noticed the contrast between the cool blue water droplets and the warm red tassels. That color contrast was part of my creative intention, and I'm delighted it worked for you! Really appreciate your encouraging words!   Posted: 10/25/2026 06:45:33
