I took this shot from Newcastle Island, British Columbia, looking towards the mainland, Georgia Straits, post thunder and lightning storm. Picture perfect with the sun setting and landing on the ferry along with a rainbow.I adjusted the sky for more definition using contrast and exposure. The foreground, water, is overexposed a bit too.

Good mood image. The storm looks ominous. I think the lighter water in the very front draws the eye away from the main part of the image, so I would make it the same tone as the midrange water. I like the way the ship looks like it is catching some sunlight coming through the clouds.   Posted: 10/10/2026 21:21:02
The appearance of the ferry makes it look stable enough to weather the threatening storm. Even though the foreground water is a bit overexposed, my eyes are instantly drawn to the storms, the ferry, the rainbows, and the heavy clouds. I love the composition and the scene you captured!   Posted: 10/11/2026 11:35:28
The light captures the ship qite nicely. The foreground is a bit light. Ship in storm is subject. Suggest cropping out the blue sky and some of the left.   Posted: 10/12/2026 18:22:07
There are parallel lines with the clouds and the ship. It make the image interesting. Maybe you could crop some to increase attention to that element of the image.   Posted: 10/14/2026 17:52:25
I really like how the ferry really contrasted with the background clouds. You could probably burn in the lighter sea in the foreground and then maybe crop off the sky showing at the top for even more contrast. Then I was thinking that the rainbow might being shown more. I'm sorry but I started getting carried away on this and came up with this.   Posted: 10/20/2026 21:52:42
I like your version with the stronger rainbow, ferry which accentuates the main elements of the photo.   Posted: 10/22/2026 17:44:27
The contrast between the dark sky and ship is striking. I like the rays of light on the right illuminating the ship. On the left, it looks almost like a rainbow in the clouds so I would not crop on the left, maybe just on the bottom to get rid of the lighter water.   Posted: 10/21/2026 12:34:43
